About KHS

Welcome to Kennebunk High School!

Kennebunk High School is an extraordinary 4-year public high school with an enrollment of approximately 700 students, of our 70 teachers (70% hold advanced degrees), and nearly 50 additional staff members.  Our students live in the communities of Arundel, Kennebunk, and Kennebunkport.  Recently, KHS was named the #2 public high school in the State of Maine for the second year running by US News and World Report.  The mission of Kennebunk High School is to “Develop productive global citizens by building knowledge and character,” which is a charge that is evident in everything we do.

KHS is a 1:1 school and features a rigorous academic program with many pathways to a diploma.  We offer a strong focus on internship and career/technical education programs and have more than 15 Advanced Placement offerings, many early college courses, a STEM Scholar Program, and the International Baccalaureate Diploma programme with 19 course offerings.  The IB programme is only offered in three Maine public schools, and provides an exceptional and globally competitive academic program that is usually only available in the most prestigious international schools.

KHS has a wide range of co-curricular activities with a participation rate of over 80%.  There are 44 athletic teams (26 varsity) and 31 clubs that are growing each year.  Our arts and music programs are robust.  Each year our students produce and perform several plays and musicals.  Our students’ art is exhibited broadly within the school and community.  Students excel musically in chamber choir, concert chorus, wind ensemble, concert band, and jazz band in concerts throughout the community and participate in district and state festivals and competitions.

The newly-renovated Kennebunk High School opened in 2018 and is a beautiful place to learn and is a state of the art facility.  The school features interactive whiteboards in each classroom, STEM labs, a 400+ seat Auditorium, and a 100 seat lecture hall.  In terms of athletic facilities, the school features a 1000 seat gymnasium and a brand new athletic complex that is the envy of Southern Maine.

Each year Kennebunk High School has a college admissions percentage rate of greater than 80%, while 18% of our students enter the workforce, and approximately 2% enlist in the military.

Please feel free to contact us here at KHS if you would like further information or may be interested in a tour of this amazing facility.
